September 5, 2009 was Our annual Back to School Backpack giveaway
At Transit workers for Children, we are working hard to deliver services to our metropolitan area youth. Over the past 15 years, we have sponsored various activities like the UniverSoul Circus, sporting events, holiday parties, and events that support education.
We have constructed this site as a means of keeping the community informed of the events that occur throughout the year and how they can become involved with the process. We welcome suggestions and encourage you to get involved whether through a contribution of time, funds or ideas you can cause a change. Our site enables you to save money on products that you would normally buy for your family with the added benefit of knowing that a portion of the proceeds goes to support our efforts. We know that the health and welfare of our families are a priority so the food and household products you will find in the TWFC store are primarily of an organic nature. We also carry Books and Electronics. In addition on our events' page you can purchase discounted tickets.
“MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK” We believe TWFC makes good use of this phrase in that in 1994 several NYC Transit Employees decided to create a vehicle to give back to the communities in which they live and work, thousands more have opted to join this effort empowering the organization to do its work of serving young people.
In today’s difficult economy, we feel the need for your organization takes on an even greater relevancy. We cannot depend on the government to solve our problems or address our needs we must do for ourselves, to the extent that we are able to do so.
We would like to thank the many NYC Transit Families and volunteers who have made these past 15 years possible for their support and look forward to many more.
